I had the absolute honour, pleasure and privilege of working with Berta on my first draft of The Bargain. Berta was kind, approachable and responsive, and honestly went above and beyond from the offset. The feedback she provided, once she was done, was not only timely and thorough, but once again, went above and beyond my expectations. Her editorial letter was not only extremely detailed and perspective, but gave me concrete examples of everything she said, which made her feedback so much easier to action. I can honestly say that her notes will absolutely make the book much better in the long run, and I also really appreciated the balance of encouragement and critical feedback. Berta didn’t just tell me all the things that needed improvement—which is what I asked for!—but she also pointed out some of the things she enjoyed, which actually are just as helpful when making my next round of edits. She made me look at the book and the characters in ways I hadn’t considered, but also helped me see the parts of the book I wasn’t aware were already shining. Knowledgeable, friendly, meticulous, perceptive and thorough—I would absolutely recommend Berta, and would absolutely adore working with her again.

I was feeling really stuck during my second draft of Project DRC about where to take it in the second half. Berta and I sat down together for a couple of hours and went through the plot of the book and she helped me to work out what was missing. She asked insightful questions and was very motivational. It gave me the confidence to finish my second draft and I will certainly be going back to her for a developmental edit!

Berta did a developmental proofread on my fantasy project. I gave her a list of questions which she answered very insightfully, with specific comments around worldbuilding, character and plot structure. She gave me a document with her notes and then left specific comments throughout the manuscript. I can't wait to get stuck back in. Berta is such a good motivator - she will fall in love with your novel and hype you up to the max!

The editorial work was extremely thorough and productive.
